Pinto Makes Cover of New York Times Style Magazine

Dusky beauty Frieda Pinto, one of India’s most famous faces on the global stage, has been featured on the cover of the September issue of The New York Times Style Magazine. The L’Oreal model was thrust into the international limelight with the success of her debut film “Slumdog Millionaire.”

Pinto told the New York Times she wanted to be famous since childhood and was considered quite a “drama queen” by her family.

Following the release of “Slumdog Millionaire,” the actress has been receiving lots of Hollywood offers, but, she told the magazine, no one from Bollywood had approached her yet.

“I have done no film in India so it is very hard for people to accept me as an actress. They don’t really know who I am or they probably don’t take me too seriously.” she said.

”I haven’t been directly approached to do a Bollywood film. After ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ I was given scripts to read but was not directly approached. I don’t think I fit the bill.” Reportedly, the actress dumped her longtime boyfriend Rohan Antao after getting international acclaim and has no regrets about it.

“I feel what I did was right. There were no two ways about it,” Pinto revealed. As per the tabloids buzz, the actress is currently dating her “Slumdog Millionaire” co-star Dev Patel.

The 26-year-old actress is has four upcoming Hollywood projects including Woody Allen’s “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger,” Julian Schnabel’s “Miral,” Rupert Wyatt’s sci-fi flick “Rise Of The Apes” and Tarsem Singh’s “Immortals.”

For a while there were also rumors swirling about a potential role for Pinto in the next Bond movie. Directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig as James Bond, the next 007 movie does not have a release date yet and, according to news reports, neither camp has confirmed that the Indian actress will take on the coveted role as Bond’s leading lady.

As a former model, the Mumbai-born actress does not hesitate to share her beauty tips with fans: “Drink lots of water and eat fruits and vegetables to have a glowing skin.”
