We are all proud to call India the world’s largest democracy.
But let me ask you where in a democracy is an innocent man given a life sentence?
The treatment given to Dr. Binayak Sen, a physician working for the benefit of tribals in remote areas where the elite would not dare to venture, is unfair and unjust.
It is a travesty of justice that has created an uproar across India and around the world. Eminent personalities and human rights advocates have taken up his cause, but more needs to be done to highlight his plight and urge the government to re-examine his case.
