Tanishq Abraham, a nine- year-old genius living in Sacramento, Calif., was featured on YouTube’s first episode of “Prodigy”, a new program the website launched, July 1. A student at American River College in Sacramento, Tanishq began showing his qualities when he was just four months old, flipping over the pages of children’s books and answering questions.
On the YouTube episode, the boy-genius says he misses having friends. He finds it easier to talk to college students than children his own age.
"I like particle physics, anti-matter, the fate of the universe and the Big Bang," says Tanishq says who was accepted into Mensa, the high-IQ society at the age of 4 and a half. Interestingly, his sister Tiara, two years his junior, shows the same qualities and was admitted into Mensa when she was 4.
Two college professors who teach Tanishq say the young student outperforms all the 20-year olds in class. When he was 7, he already had several publications to his credit including pieces on NASA’s astronomy website, news reports say.
Parents Biju and Dr. Taji Abraham are also featured on the YouTube segment where they speak of the effort to keep a balance in the life of their child prodigy.
While there are many programs for children with disabilities, they say there are few for those endowed with extraordinary intelligence.
While he likes playing with planes like any 8-year old, Tanishq clearly loves discussing stuff with college students and teaching some of them. He wants to be a soprano he says as he practices in his voice classes with children his own age.
A Wikipedia page on Tanishq says he completed Stanford University's EPGY Math courses in 6 months at the age of 5; at 6 he did he did on-line high school and college level classes ranging in chemistry, paleontology, biology, and geology; When he turned 7, he joined American River College and completed courses in Geology and Astronomy and the next year in Biotechnology. He scored an A in all his college level courses.
