More Arrests Made in California Venture Capitalist’s Murder

While three more arrests have been made in connection with the November murder of the California-based venture capitalist Raveesh “Ravi” Kumra, new information relating to the murder was released Jan. 3. Those findings included a divorce filing by Kumra,66.  and his wife that was thousands of pages long and hinted at shady business dealings and a sham divorce, ktvu.com reported.

In addition of the arrest of  22-year-old Raven Dixon on Dec. 18, police have arrested three more men in connection with the Nov. 30 murder during a home invasion in the quiet suburb of Monte Sereno, Calif. Dixon was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder as well as felony narcotics, misdemeanor prostitution and drunk in public charges.

According to Bay City News, Deangelo Austin was arrested Dec. 29 in Sacramento, Calif., by Sgt. Kerry Harris and on Dec. 27, Oakland police detained Javier Garcia, who was transferred to Santa Clara County Jail and arrested on suspicion of murder after an interview.

Facing a murder charge, the 22-year-old Austin made his first appearance before a judge on Jan. 3 afternoon at the Hall of Justice in San Jose, Calif. Austin did not enter a plea, ktvu.com said.

The day before, Dec. 26, police interviewed and arrested Lucas Anderson after an interview at Santa Clara County Jail, where he was already in custody on an unrelated burglary charge, Harris to Bay City News. He also violated terms of his probation, court records indicate. Anderson was arraigned Dec. 28 on a murder charge.

According to the Mercury News, Harris said additional details have not been provided due to what he termed the “active and ongoing” investigation. He did not know whether the three latest suspects have hired lawyers. Dixon appeared briefly in court Dec. 21, charged with a felony and being an accessory in a homicide. She also was charged with a gang-enhancement, which Santa Clara County prosecutors declined to discuss. The documents in her case have been sealed.

Raveesh Kumra, known to many as Ravi, is the former owner of Mountain Winery. He was killed in what police originally described as a home invasion robbery. His ex-wife, Harinder “Rani” Kumra, had also been injured in the attack and taken to a local hospital Nov. 30.

She told police that she was tied up during the home invasion.

Court documents indicate Dixon was arrested after offering an undercover officer sexual services for $600 and cocaine for $50. Documents also indicate that after her arrest, she admitted to being a sexual escort for six years, according to Bay City News.Kumra was born in Kartharpur, India and immigrated to the United States in 1970 after earning a degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He eventually settled in the Bay Area, and his family said he was one of the first Indian-born entrepreneurs in the wireless industry.

In addition to his ex-wife, Kumra is survived by his daughters, Raina and Anisha; his brothers Bharat Kumra and Rajesh Kumra; his sister Renu Duggal, and his father Ram Kishan Kumra.
