Mother, Son Admit Killing Engineer Over Mistress

The 2008 murder of Arunkumar Ingle of Middletown, Del., was solved with his son and wife admitting their roles in his killing. Arunkumar Ingle, 55, a Boeing engineer, was found brutally beaten in his home in Middletown, on Jan. 21, 2008, according to the Delaware County Daily.

On Dec. 21, his son, Parth Ingle, entered an open guilty plea to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 33 to 66 months in a state correctional facility in Pennsylvania, with eight years of probation. Arunkumar Ingle’s wife, Bhavna, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit voluntary manslaughter on Dec. 21. She was given 10 to 23 months and four years of probation.

According to the Delaware Patch.com, authorities believe the Boeing engineer was killed because of his infidelities and for financial gain. A Russian mistress testified earlier about Arunkumar Ingle’s plan to fake his death and cash in on multiple insurance policies worth more than $3.6 million. Parth Ingle and his wife, Devika, were more than $300,000 in debt in January 2008, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Parth Ingle, now 26, told Judge Barry Dozor of the Delaware County Court in Pennsylvania, he killed his father in self-defense after wrestling a baseball bat from him, but Delaware County Assistant District Attorney Thomas Lawrie dismissed that story as “simply not credible,” Patch.com reported.

At the Dec. 21 hearing, Parth Ingle told the court that he told his father that he knew about his plans. “I asked him to end it so that we could just be a family again,” Parth Ingle told the court.

The father said “he had had it” and vowed to kill his son, along with his wife and adult daughter. According to Parth Ingle, his father started choking him and swinging a baseball bat. But, Parth Inlge said he managed to wrest the bat away and used it to hit his father. He also stabbed his father with a knife he said the older man had dropped during the struggle. “I was kind of on auto-pilot. I lost control of myself,” Parth Ingle said. “I really regret what happened.”

Arunkumar Ingle died of crushing and blunt-force head injuries associated with multiple stab wounds to the head and neck, according to the Delaware County medical examiner’s office.

In December 2011, Parth Ingle was found guilty of putting spyware on his father’s computer to capture passwords to email accounts and was sentenced to two years’ probation. His sister, Avnee Ingle, was acquitted at trial.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the family came to the United States in 1988 and owned a nearby 7-Eleven. Arunkumar Ingle also had an Amway business in addition to his Boeing job.
