8-party meet set to resolve Telangana issue
The Indian government has decided to convene has decided to convene a meeting of eight political parties in Andhra Pradesh in a bid to smooth out issues following the furor on all sides about the creation of the separate state of Telangana.
The ongoing strikes in some districts of Andhra, according to New Delhi, passed off peacefully Dec. 30. So it was issuing a call for the meeting, a press release from the Prime Minister's Office said.
The meeting is scheduled for Dec. 5. Union Home Minister P . Chidambaram has invited the eight parties for talks, the release said without naming them.
