Indian student attacked in St. Louis
A 29-year-old female student from New Delhi, pursuing her Ph.D. at Washington University here, was found badly beaten last month in the basement of her off-campus student housing in University City. The student, whose name has not been made public, remains hospitalized in critical condition and has not been in a position to provide a statement to investigators, officials were quoted as saying in news reports.
A statement from the University City Police Department said, "A female graduate student at Washington University was found physically assaulted in the basement laundry facility of an off-campus apartment building in University City.
The building is owned and operated by Quadrangle Housing, a subsidiary of the university.
