Prestigious Chicago club hosts `Incredible India' night
The event was the high point of a yearlong celebration of India at the WAC. The India theme was selected with the active participation of Usha Kiran Attri, a member of the WAC and wife of Ashok Kumar Attri, consul general of India in Chicago. The club was founded in 1898 and was the first athletic club for women in America.
During the year, the WAC organized several programs that highlighted India's rich cultural heritage.

Bollywood's Lever brings comedy act to Chicago
The event attracted more than a thousand guests, according to organizers. Lever spoke of his son's recovery, as well as that of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, through prayer, and performed comedy and mimicry acts.
Lever was introduced by the Rev. Shekhar Kallianpur, and was presented a plaque by the Rev.Samuel Vallabhdas.

President Clinton to keynote PanIIT Global Conference
"All of them are confirmed speakers," Piyush Agrawal, spokesperson for PanIIT told Desi Talk.
The theme of this year's conference is "Entrepreneurship and Innovation in a Global Economy," said an Aug. 3 press release from PanIIT, an umbrella alumni organization for all the campuses of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Telugu association to host 3-day convention in Chicago
The theme of the convention is "Technological Innovation and Cultural Celebration" and the organizers have pledged that all activities of interest to members – including technology, business and entertainment, as well as social, spiritual and religious issues – will be covered.
Kasi Paturi, chairman of TANA's public relation committee, told reporters here the organizers expect close to 7,000 people of all ages to attend the convention that would include top-ranking personalities in the areas of technology, banking, finance, politics, art, culture, film and youth
