Playback singer Asha Bhonsle and Pandit Ravi Shankar's daughters Anoushka Shankar and Norah Jones have been nominated for the 2005 Grammy Awards to be held on Feb. 8, 2006, in Los Angeles, according to news reports.
Bhonsle and Shankar were nominated on Dec. 7 in New York in the 'best contemporary world music album' category. Bhonsle's album 'You've Stolen My Heart - Songs From R.D. Burman's Bollywood' is in the race on category 73. Shankar is in contention in the same category for her album 'Rise,' while Jones is in contention for the 'best pop collaboration with vocals' category and placed in category 8 for 'Viriginia Moon,' a collaborative album with Foo Fighers, according to the reports.
